Exclusive retreat to Satellite Island
April 23, 2021 @ 9:00 am - April 27, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
Atelier is very excited announce a return of this special Art adventure on Satellite Island.
This is an exclusive opportunity to spend five days of full creative immersion on our very own Tasmanian Island. We will be responding to this spectacular, rugged landscape through drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and writing.
You don’t need any experience and you can approach the workshop anyway you choose. I will be on hand guiding you through each step of the way.
We fly into Hobart to be met by our driver who will take us on a short 40 minute drive to the picturesque Bruny Island and the ferry. Here we will visit a local vineyard and cheese makery for lunch before being boated across to the island.
The indomnible adventurer and chef Sarah Glover will be cooking a special lunch for us over the coals using Tasmania’s best produce.
“It’s all about living the salty, slow life – from fishing, kayaking, snorkelling, oyster shucking and paddle boarding, to long walks on the oyster-covered shore or simply curling up by the fire.”
The innkeeper, Richard Roe, our ‘seafaring butler’ will be on hand to help with anything we need, such as picnics (he will pack one and drive us to any spot on the island, if requested) and diving for mussels, abalone and fresh fish. He’ll also teach us how to shuck your oysters on arrival with welcome glasses of Tasmanian sparkling wine, light the indoor and outdoor fires and be on-call for any requests.
The accomadation is in two areas, the boat house, on the water and the main house up the steps overlooking the Island. The rooms are beautifully styled and the beds decked in french linen.
After four days of creative immersion, feasting and exploring we will head back to Bruny and onto Hobart for a day at MONA, Australia’s largest private museum with a collection that includes antiquities and controversial contemporary art by artists from around the world.
