Visual Poetry – A photography workshop with David Taylor and Dominique Sutton.
April 3 @ 10:00 am - April 5 @ 5:00 pm$790
“Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt
This three day intensive course is for people who are interested in photography as art-form. This workshop is not about learning new technical skills but instead designed to improve each student’s understanding of their own photographic practice, their relationship with photography as art and their choice of subjects and genre. We will be creating unique and engaging images to form a narrative or visual poem.
The mentors will guide you through various techniques to help find your strengths and develop your creative exploration of photography. The workshop will be conducted in a studio environment at Popped Creative Space in Byron Bay and will conclude with a curated exhibition of participants’ works on the Friday night.
A delicious lunch will be included each day
Participants should have an understanding and knowledge of basic photographic principles (exposure, aperture, shutter speed, film speed etc…) Plus having a working knowledge of your digital camera -DSLR, compact mirrorless, or point and shoot.
Due to the busy schedule of this intensive workshop there will not be enough time to shoot and process film. While it is possible to create great images with the cameras that are part of smart phones, a purpose built digital camera would be more appropriate, as it allows for greater artistic control.
