SATURDAY, 3rd JULY 2021.
“I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?” ~ Vincent van Gogh
The workshop will be a day of creative immersion using the beautiful Broken Head Tea-tree lakes for inspiration. Sourcing ideas from the environment around us we will explore this incredible, sacred place. Crafting our tools from the environment, we will be drawing with driftwood dipped in ink, charcoal from the beach fires and painting with water colour directly from the landscape. We will start by gathering found materials to make tools. Using large sheets of paper we will explore gestural ink, washes, river mud, charcoal and water based paints and try different techniques of mark making, layering and ideas. We will be working on the ground using our marks and tools with large brushes and poured paints to create a finished work. We will talk about the feel of the work, the energy, issues and location.
