July 25, 2019 @ 10:00 am – July 26, 2019 @ 4:00 am
In this exciting new workshop at River Hawk Ranch Dominique will guide both the beginner and the more experienced artist through the process involved in working with clay from the life model.
We will be exploring how form can be used as a vehicle for communicating character and emotion. Students will be encouraged to broaden their observational skills with a focus on developing a sculptural language which conveys character by playing with such devices as rhythm, texture, abstraction, emphasis and repetition, paying attention to how the great sculptors in history have used form in all its various articulations as a means of expression.
You will be encouraged to push their work beyond a merely faithful representation of the body. We will start by as a warm up exercise and to practice observational skills.
All your materials will be provided and students will have the opportunity to fire their sculptures at the end of the workshop.
Enjoy a delicious catered lunch each day and then share a glass of wine in the evening while contemplating your work with fellow artists. River Hawk Ranch is the perfect place for two days of creative immersion with one of Australia’s best art-practitioners.
