Sculpting the Landscape

September 23, 2019 @ 10:00 am – September 24, 2019 @ 4:00 pm

River Hawk Ranch will host a series of two day workshops with internationally renown artist Dominique Sutton in the beautiful surrounds of Byron Bay.
In this dynamic workshop we will be exploring our relationship to nature through site specific sculpture and ephemeral art using materials found on site. There are forests, plains and river banks to explore notions of art, place and imagination.

We will start with drawing the landscape using a variety of materials to explore the language of mark making and form and follow the journey from inspiration to outcome.

Walking down to the river we will start formulating ideas and concepts to identify where and how you would like to create your sculpture. We will gather, form, experiment and play with natural found materials.

You can use clay, wood, riverbed and pigment…. please feel free to bring in materials you would like to explore in the landscape. The process will be recorded in photograph and film.

Come and re -connect with the natural environment and explore a form of sculptural alchemy and the power of enchantment and transformation though art.

Enjoy a delicious catered lunch and then finish the day with a glass of wine contemplating your work with fellow artists. River Hawk Ranch is the perfect place for two days of creative immersion with one of Australia’s best art-practitioners.
