Sculpture by the Sea 2017
5 x 2 meters. Wood, fabric, copper.
For several years now I have used the boat as a metaphor to express the human condition – Immigration, human physicality, loss. The symbol of the boat as both hope and fear and its relevance to our contemporary existence.
“That sinking Feeling” is a comment on the current situation of global immigration and also a personal expression of my human condition. The concept of an un-floatable boat with the life jacket on the inside and the symbology of body as boat and how we all need an internal flotation device.
